Compaigni V’ni Dansi
Compaigni V’ni Dansi is a unique company that brings together traditional Métis and contemporary dance under the Artistic Direction of Yvonne Chartrand. A central objective of the company is to promote, preserve and perform Métis dance. They believe in sharing their knowledge of Métis history and culture through traditional and contemporary dance. They continue to create a repertoire of contemporary dance pieces reflecting humanity within a blend of culture.
Les Productions Figlio
Les Productions Figlio is a new company founded by choreographer Serge Bennathan to explore a wider spectrum of artistic works including theatre, dance, music and multi-media. The company aims to use art to reach out to audiences of all ages. Based in Vancouver, we intend to tour our work and to continue to create new and diverse artistic projects for our local community.
NOW Orchestra
The mandate of NOW Orchestra is to provide a focus for the creation of an original West Coast musical idiom through concert performances and recordings, supporting the creation of new Canadian compositions, and offering free educational workshops to the public. Their artistic mission is to create, develop and provide a focus for an original sounding music, which is distinctly Canadian West Coast. The Society’s flagship ensemble is the 15-piece NOW Orchestra. With a 20-year history of playing improvised music as a large ensemble, the NOW Orchestra has gained international recognition.
Uzume Taiko
Uzume Taiko is an innovative taiko drumming group which began in 1988. With the choreographed physicality of martial arts, the heart-stopping pulse of the O-Daiko and the rhythmic sensitivity of a jazz ensemble, the drummers of Uzume Taiko create an exhilarating sensual experience. The group has performed locally and toured to the United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Channel Islands and Japan.
Wild Excursions Performance
Wild Excursions Performance is a physical theatre company whose artistic purpose is to research, develop and present, both locally and on tour, performance works in which movement and original or adapted text are meaningfully inter-related. The company aims to startle, surprise, challenge and delight audiences, and to ignite in their imaginations a renewed sense of the possibilities of live performance.
